Have You Tried Any of These Different Types of Pizzas?

Different Types of Pizzas in ChicagoPizza first became popular in Italy; it was a humble beginning wherein small restaurants served it in the neighborhood. It has undergone several transformations to become what a lot of people know and love to eat today. There are different types of pizzas for those who want to go on a gastronomical adventure.

Chicago Pizza

This deep-dish pizza got its name from Chicago, where its invention took place. The story behind this is that during the early 1900s, Italian immigrants in the city were looking for something that they were familiar with, which was Neapolitan Pizza. Instead of creating the similar thin pie dish, Ike Sewell wanted to reinvent it. He crafted a thick crust pizza with a raised edge. He reversed the inclusion of ingredients by lining mozzarella slices on the dough, followed by the meat, veggies and topped with tomatoes. Fast forward to today, you now get to enjoy this dish whenever you order from a restaurant’s pizza delivery open for 24 hours service.

Sicilian Pizza

Sicilian pizzas, also known as sfincione, appear to look like its Chicago-style counterpart, but both have distinct differences that set them apart. You won’t even get the same pizza as you would in Sicily; however, certain characteristics must remain such as a spongy consistency. It must also have a topping of tomato sauce, herbs, onions, bread crumbs and anchovies. Typically, restaurants and homes in Sicily serve this delicious concoction on holidays such as New Year’s Eve and Christmas.

New York Style

This type of pizza isn’t like the original, but is one of the most popular in the United States. Neapolitan and New York Pizzas share a lot of things in common, but they still have a few differences. To make the closest possible thing to an actual New York-style pizza, the crust needs to be thin, but is thick enough to fold a slice lengthwise. Toppings include anchovies, mushrooms, sausage and pepperoni. These are just a handful of pizza varieties you can try; they have their own distinct features and flavors that will keep you wanting more.
